3 IAS officers in race for Tamil Nadu’s next Chief Secretary

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led Tamil Nadu government has initiated its search for the next Chief Secretary to succeed M. Sai Kumar, whose extended tenure concludes on February 28, 2027.

Three senior 1993-batch IAS officers are leading the race for the top bureaucratic position. S. Vijayakumar, currently the

Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries Department, is considered a strong

contender due to his prior experience working closely with former Chief

Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami.

Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Additional Chief

Secretary for Municipal Administration and Water Supply, is also highly regarded for his extensive administrative background.

The third prospective candidate is K. Manivasan, currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary of the Home, Prohibition, and Excise Department.
