After mass deletion of voters in UP, anxious BJP rush to re-register women voters
The recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh has triggered significant alarm within the BJP after over 15.5 million women were removed from the draft
electoral rolls. Official data shows female voter deletions outnumber male deletions by 15%, heavily impacting rural constituencies.
Since women form a crucial support base for the BJP, largely drawn by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal, these missing names represent a major electoral threat. In
response, state BJP leaders are running pillar to post, launching massive
re-registration drives to recover these voters. Simultaneously, bureaucrats
have been directed to tighten and expedite the enrollment system. The party is
making a concentrated, urgent push to restore these vital votes before the
final electoral rolls are published.
