The Union government has informed the Supreme Court that it is actively reviewing the controversial University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines framed to address caste-based discrimination across higher education campuses.

 

Appearing before a Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta conveyed that the government and the UGC are currently examining the existing regulations while noting that a final stance has not yet been taken.
