CMD and two Directors of BHEL set to retire in early 2027

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a public sector undertaking that is one of India's largest engineering and manufacturing companies, is set for an overhaul at the top management level. Among the four functional Directors in the company, two are set to retire in early 2027. So is the Chairman and Managing Director of the company, K. Sadashiv Murthy who is scheduled to retire on February 28, 2027.

The post of Director (Human Resources) is already vacant and is being held as additional charge by Tajinder Gupta, Director (Power) who is scheduled to retire along with the CMD Murthy on Feb 28, 2027. Gupta was entrusted with the additional charge of Director (HR) after Krishna Kumar Thakur quit in March 2026 to join NMDC.

Whispers has it that Manepalli Sridhar, who is serving as the Executive Director (Human Resources), BHEL has been recommended for the post of Director (HR) by the Public Enterprises Selection Board. But there is no official communication on it yet.

Likewise, S.M. Ramanathan Director (Engineering, Research & Development), BHEL is retiring on January 31, 2027.
