Huge Chinese delegation of 400+ led by President Xi to attend New Delhi BRICS Summit

Logistical preparations are being ramped up in New Delhi ahead of the BRICS summit scheduled for September 12–13, where Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to make his first visit to India in seven years.

Reflecting a significant scale-up in operations, President Xi is anticipated to travel with an expansive delegation of approximately 400 officials. This represents more than double the size of the Chinese contingent that attended his previous visit in 2019.

The extensive logistical footprint comes as both nations work to stabilize bilateral relations following the deadly 2020 border clashes and recent diplomatic friction. Despite ongoing tensions, the coordination required for housing, transport, and safeguarding the oversized delegation signals an operational opening between Beijing and New Delhi. These extensive preparations follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to China, highlighting a gradual resumption of high-level diplomatic exchanges.
