Justice M Duraiswamy, senior-most Judge of the Madras High Court, has been appointed as Acting Chief Justice of that High Court. His appointment comes following the transfer of incumbent Justice Sanjib Banerjee as Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court. Justice Duraiswamy will serve as the Acting Chief Justice until Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari – who has been transferred from Allahabad High Court to Madras High Court – joins the High Court and assumes charge.
