The whole day meetings keep GoI offices in Delhi busy or...

The Government of India offices in Delhi are very busy in meetings only. The before lunch schedule starts with senior officers meeting (SoM), followed by office related meetings with groups of officers. Post lunch. Now starts the post lunch meetings again followed by office related meetings, if any. Meeting regarding future programmes, meetings related to replies to be sent to the PMO or other higher ministry, And before signing off the day, brief meeting for next day's important issues, if any. And now the office time is over and everybody goes home. But at some ministries, the secretaries, senior officers and their personal staff sit till 8 or 9 PM attending to some urgent work. The tight meeting schedule keeps them within the office only. Those officers who are on govt tour or on leave are only solid reasons for not to attend the meeting. Meeting is such an excuse that outside callers always get ready-made replies - 'Sahab meeting main hain'.
