Retired senior bureaucrat Ashish Joshi interrogated by Delhi Police

The Delhi Police Special Cell detained senior retired bureaucrat Ashish Joshi for nearly 10 hours of interrogation before releasing him go in the evening. Joshi, a 1992-batch officer of the Indian Post and Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service, retired on March 31, 2026, as an additional secretary-ranked officer in the Government of India.

An eyewitness reported that officers picked up Joshi during his routine morning walk at Nehru Park. The retired official is a vocal critic of the Narendra Modi-led government on social media platforms. According to an associate who witnessed the incident, the extensive questioning reportedly focused on an online post directed at Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

While law enforcement authorities have not formally specified the precise post behind the inquiry, Joshi’s social media activity has previously drawn government action. On August 13, 2026, central authorities instructed platform X to withhold one of his posts from display within India. Further official statements regarding formal legal charges or official proceedings have not been released.
