HURL launches Project ‘SAKSHAM’ to empower youth through skill development (UPDATED)

Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, Managing Director, Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL), today graced the inauguration of Project “SAKSHAM” at Gorakhpur, in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyay University.

The event was attended by senior leadership from HURL, including VP (HR & CSR), BUH–Gorakhpur, AVPs, members of the CSR team, and officials from the National Skill Development Corporation along with its training partners.

Rooted in the belief that true nation-building begins at the grassroots, HURL continues to drive impactful CSR and CER initiatives aimed at empowering communities and creating sustainable opportunities.

Project “SAKSHAM”, launched in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), seeks to bridge the gap between education and employability by equipping youth with industry-relevant skills.

Under this initiative, a total of 2,265 underprivileged and unemployed youth across Gorakhpur, Barauni, and Sindri will be trained. This includes 400 youth from Gorakhpur under a dedicated program, supported by a project outlay of RS 1.49 crore.

More than a training initiative, Project SAKSHAM reflects HURL’s commitment to enabling meaningful employment opportunities, self-employment pathways, and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that skills translate into dignity, independence, and long-term growth.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohanty emphasized that initiatives like SAKSHAM are vital in shaping a self-reliant and empowered youth population, aligned with the nation’s development goals.

Project SAKSHAM stands as a testament to HURL’s vision of inclusive growth.

It is not just an initiative, it is a promise.

A promise to empower youth, strengthen communities, and contribute to building a more self-reliant India.
